Corner Unit

Another old project from 2018!

My video editing progress has been dragging along at a snail's pace...😑

After putting a king-size bed and Phoebe's dressing table in our bedroom,

there's barely any space left and storage is still somewhat insufficient.

So small items like medicine have nowhere to go except the cabinet outside the room. Having to step out of the room to retrieve things is a bit inconvenient

(yes, it's because of laziness...).

On top of that, after placing the bed,

drilling holes in the wall to install shelves feels like too much trouble

(yes, still lazy),

so I decided to make a small corner cabinet to solve the storage problem!

This project was not only my first attempt at building a non-rectangular cabinet,

but I also planned to use mortise and tenon joints for the upper shelf part!

Though it was just the most basic joint and, looking back now,

my methods were so amateurish

(using a jigsaw directly to cut the tenons and mortises was... an interesting choice...),

I managed to create a piece that didn’t require nails or screws.

Even after six or seven years, it’s still holding up very sturdily today,

so I guess a little pat on the back is in order for my past self.😆
