創客手札 | Maker's Logbook 35. - 2024 Week 52
Time flies and 2024 has quietly come to an end.
Reflecting on the goals set at the beginning of this series:
"Complete one project a month, try not to repeat the types, and record the progress weekly."
Unsurprisingly, I didn't perfectly meet all of them… 😅
However, I still managed to complete a total of 11 projects, big and small, this year.
Out of the 52 weeks of the year, including this one, there are 35 entries for Maker's Logbook.
Although woodworking still dominated the 11 projects,
some of the projects are actually wood sculptures.
And among the actual furniture projects, I tried quite a few new techniques this year. Additionally, besides woodworking,
I also completed a foam bracer and two models!
so I give myself a passing score of 65 for 2024!
Writing this series for a year now,
(although not every week, the attendance rate is almost 70%...)
although still had its moments of feeling tedious and lazy when I was busy,
but looking back at these 30-somthing articles for this year, I still feel it was worth it!
Sometimes it was just recording the weekly progress,
other times it was expressing thoughts or complaints in the moment,
but mainly it systematically recorded how I dealt with problems encountered each time.
In the future, encountering similar or identical problems,
I can reference past methods or ideas to solve them more efficiently.
On top of that, since each entry in the Maker's Logbook is like a small presentation,
it also forces me to organize project photos, videos, and design diagrams every one or two weeks.
Unlike before, the frequency to organize these material is more like once every few months, which means having to go through multiple projects' materials at once.
Honestly, it's quite annoying and overwhelming,
so I tend to end up procrastinating, which then create a vicious cycle...
The main focus for 2025 will be preparing to move back to Taiwan,
but I will continue this series.
The most basic goal is to write more than 40 entries,
and also hoping to diversify the project types,
trying something I've never done before.
Additionally, I would like to collaborate more with Phoebe or other friends.
While I enjoy burying myself in the shop alone,
having a companion to explore and work together brings different kinds of fun and sparks new ideas!
So, goodbye 2024!
2025, let's see what you got!
